The Creative Process in
Writing Course
This course
is
aimed at anyone who
writes or wishes to write, whether you simply
want to develop your creative writing skills
or write a book. The skills you will learn apply to many types
of
texts, including short
stories, novellas, essays,
theses, articles, cookery
books and
autobiographies.
On this
course, you will learn how to
generate writing ideas, how to research, how to structure, and how to
edit your writing.
Most
important, you will learn how the creative process works. This
understanding will benefit all of your writings, and all of the areas
of your life in which you use writing as a tool for accomplishing your
objectives and goals.
The
course runs over three days full-time, in the evenings and on
Saturday mornings, and
you
will be

Business and Organisational
Writing Elective
This
elective builds
on the 'Creative Process in
Writing' course by focusing on business and organisational writing. It
covers, among
others, email,
memo, report, proposal, and manual writing.
It runs
over one day full-time, in
the evenings and on Saturday mornings, and
you
will be

Academic Writing
Elective
This
elective builds
on the 'Creative Process in
Writing' course by focusing on academic writing. On
this elective, we focus on essay, thesis,
dissertation,
and academic paper writing.
It runs
over one day full-time, in the evenings and on Saturday

Narrative Writing Elective
This
elective builds
on the 'Creative Process in
Writing' course by focusing on narrative writing. On
this elective, we focus on writing flash fiction, short stories,
novellas and novels.
It runs

Core Copy-editing and
Proofreading Course
(with emphasis on electronic document editing and proofreading)
This course
is
aimed at those who want to work as copy-editors and proofreaders or
whose work
already involves editing and proofreading documents and publications.
It will equip you
with the tools for your copy-editing and proofreading practice, and
will motivate you to
launch your career. But more than this, you will be empowered to
further your own learning at your own pace.
The course gives the background to professional copy-editing and
proofreading, explains
how to use word processing software to edit and proofread, and
familiarises you
with the necessary tools and resources. It also establishes a
comprehensive
framework for English grammar and punctuation, providing you with a
system for developing your expertise in this area.
This
certificate
course runs over two days full-time,

Good English Writing and
Speaking
Course
This course
is
aimed at those who wish to improve their English writing and speaking.
After completing the course, you will communicate more
effectively and improve how you come across to more able writers and
speakers of English.
In the process, you will enhance your prospects where English is used
to communicate. You will also be empowered to further your own
learning at your own pace.
The fun, simple, systematic learning approach provides a
natural
sequence and progression of concepts, with a focus on relevance. This
makes the material easy to understand and use.
